Hot Start Leads Men's Basketball Over Lynn

Deon Perry tied his career-high with 31-points to lead the charge

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- A huge offensive start for the Barry Men's Basketball team set the early tone and held through for the win on rivalry night at Cesar Odio Court Wednesday evening. The Buccaneers topped Lynn, 100-79, in what was the third highest scoring game against the Fighting Knights in program history.

SUMMARY:

  • 1H | The Buccaneers came out on fire to start the game with a 14-0 run. Lynn fought their way back into the game and brought it back down to a one possession game. A 12-3 run to end the half put Barry back up to a 15-point lead to go into the break. The Bucs shot nearly 57-percent from the field and drained nine three-point baskets. Breno Silva led the way with 14 points, going 4-6 from the field, three of which were from behind the arc. Deon Perry was right behind with 12 points.   • 2H - Lynn was looking to grab the momentum quick and came out of the break with a 9-0 run to make it a four-point game. After battling back and forth, Barry was able to have one final big push that helped tilt the game in their favor for good. A 12-0 run from 6:39 to 2:57 made it a 20 point lead. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Deon Perry tied his Buccaneer career-high with 31 points.
  • It is his third 30-plus point game this season. 
  • Breno Silva had a Buccaneer career-high 20 points. 
  • Tarrance Warren and Jose Benitez were also in double figures with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
  • Benitez was two assist shy of a double-double with eight.
  • Novak Perovic led on the boards with 10.
  • Barry is 8-0 when leading at the half.
  • The Bucs have won nine of the last 10 home games against Lynn.
  • Barry dominated in the paint 42-24 and played quick with a 20-4 fast break point advantage.
  • The 57-points in the first half ties for the second most in a period this season.
  • It is the seventh 50-plus point half this season.
  • It was the third time ever Barry has scored 100 points against Lynn, the second time at home.
  • Barry improves to 6-2 at home.

ON THE HORIZON:
Barry will head back on the road and take on Saint Leo this Saturday, January 17 with tip-off set for 4:00 p.m.
