Cross Country Sets Nine Season Best Times at FSU XC Invite

Six personal best highlight the run at Apalachee Regional Park

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Barry Buccaneers men's and women's cross-country teams traveled up north to Apalachee Regional Park to take on one of their toughest races this season. The FSU XC Invite consisted of 34 schools including 13 from NCAA Division I, nine from NCAA Division II, seven from NAIA, and five from NJCAA, that tallied over 320 participants on the men's side and 350-plus in the women's race.

NOTEWORTHY:

MEN:

  • Landon Debbas was the top finisher for Barry and hit a personal best time for the second straight race.
  • Manny Garcia also hit a personal best time dropping over 30-seconds from his previous best set at the SSC Championship last season.
  • Three more Buccaneers hit season-best times with Jack Davis dropping seven seconds, James Alexander dropping 34-seconds, and Jejuan Gillispie a full minute and a half.
WOMEN:
  • Betsy Perez was the top finisher for Barry and hit a personal best time for the second straight race.
  • Mily Gutierrez, Jaelynn Rosario, and Julian Stanish all set new personal records.
  • Gutierrez dropped 26-seconds from her previous record set at the Bobcat Invitational two Friday's ago.
  • Rosario dropped two seconds and continues to improve in her first cross country season.
  • Stanish ran seven seconds faster, setting new PRs for the second straight race in the 6K.

UP NEXT:
Barry will take another week off and return to action on Saturday, October 11 at the Ave Maria Invitational at North Park in Ave Maria, FL.
