Track & Cross Country Add James Conley and Jamal Dorvilier

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.-- Barry University adds assistant coaches James Conley and Jamal Dorvilier to the track and cross country coaching staff ahead of the 2025-26 season  

"I'm thrilled to officially welcome Coach Jamal Dorvilier and Coach James Conley as full-time assistant coaches for our cross country and track and field program," head coach Kevin Padin Said. "This is a huge milestone for us. Just two years ago, we were starting from scratch, and now, we're on track to have over 60 student-athletes on the roster this fall. This incredible growth is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our team, coaches, and everyone involved. Last year, Coach Dorvilier and Coach Conley made a significant impact in their part-time roles, and their promotion to full-time positions is a direct result of their dedication. Their expanded contributions will be invaluable as we continue to build something special here. This is a long-term vision, and we are laying the foundation for a lasting, competitive program."

James Conley is a sprint coach and athletic program leader with over a decade of experience in developing championship level athletes and programs at the high school, club, and professional levels.  

Conley currently serves as assistant athletic director at Keys Gate Charter School where he oversees 18 sports programs, drives curriculum innovation, and manages all aspects of athletic operations. His prior leadership roles at ABF and various schools in Florida have resulted in numerous district, regional, and state titles. He is known for his ability to transcend athletic limits, Conley combines technical expertise with a strong emphasis on mentorship, character building, and academic accountability. 

Conley is a former professional sprinter who competed for Nike TSV Wattenscheid and ASICS Team Wendelstein in Germany. He brings firsthand high-performance experience to his coaching. Through world-class seminars, performance therapy camps, and continuous education, Conley remains committed to unlocking the full potential of every athlete he coaches. 

Conley attended Kansas City Community College from 2006 to 2008 and majored in general studies. He then graduated from Montana State University in 2010 and majored in liberal arts.  

Jamal Dorvilier is a dynamic and versatile coach specializing in jumps, hurdles, and sprints, with a strong competitive background as a collegiate athlete in the long jump, 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles, and as a decathlete. With over seven years of hands-on experience in personal training and coaching, Dorvilier has developed top-ranked high school athletes, most notably Brandon Pottinger, the #1 high jumper in both the state and the world (2.16m). 

Before coming to The Shores, Dorvilier served as a jumps and hurdles coach at both Gulliver Prep Academy and Westminster Christian School, where he managed athlete development, daily programming, transportation logistics, and recovery sessions. He is known for his ability to break down complex movements into teachable progressions, he creates engaging training environments that focus on athletic fundamentals, technical growth, and sustained motivation. 

Dorvilier graduated from Florida International University in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in communication arts.
