MIAMI SHORES, Fla.-- Michael Spiliopoulos joins the Barry women's basketball staff as an assistant coach for the 2025-26 season.
"I am equally excited to welcome Coach Mike to the Barry Women's Basketball program" head coach Bustamante said "His experience at FAU, combined with his analytical approach to the game and expertise in video coordination, will be a tremendous asset to our staff. Mike has a unique ability to break down film, identify key details, and translate those insights into player development and team strategy. His skill set will greatly enhance the way we prepare and compete, and I am confident he will make a significant impact on our program and student-athletes."
Before coming to Barry, Spiliopoulos worked at Florida Atlantic University for two seasons. Spiliopoulos started as a graduate assistant in the ticket office for the Owls, later working with women's basketball as a student manager and scout team player. In the ticket office, he managed live events and game-day staff for various sports, helping the Owls increase their ticket sales across the board. He was part of the team that coordinated ticket sales during the men's basketball Final Four run in March of 2023.
With the women's basketball team Spiliopoulos assisted with practice setup and breakdown, traveling with the team to provide assistance to the coaching staff. During his second year, he served as the video and scouting operations coordinator. He created video scouting reports on all opponents, and recruited, coordinated and developed the program's male practice player scout team. He also assisted with recruiting efforts and individual player workouts.
As an undergraduate at UCF, he served as the student manager for the men's basketball team, assisting with on-court training and scouting.
He earned his bachelor's from UCF in entertainment management in 2021 and his MBA from FAU in 2025.
