TAMPA, Fla. – In a pitcher's duel, Tampa's two-out rally in the bottom of the second lifted them past the Barry softball team in the Sunshine State Conference series opener at Naimoli Field on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- B2 | All the scoring came in the bottom of the second. Tampa pulled together a two-out rally. The Spartans drew a walk then back to back singles loaded the bases. The third straight single scored the two runs that would be the difference maker. I Tampa 2, Barry 0
NOTEWORTHY:
- Tampa's pitcher, Gwen McGinnis, tossed a ano-hitter through five innings.
- Becka Mellor delivered the first hit in the game for Barry with a lead off single in the top of the sixth.
- Sarah Langlie was the only other Buccaneer to record a hit.
- Isabel Vera came out from the bullpen and threw 2.1 scoreless and hitless innings, walking just one.
