MIAMI SHORES, Fla.-- The top-ranked and seeded Barry Buccaneers dispatched the Mississippi College Choctaws 4-1 in the NCAA Division II South Region 1 women's tennis championship on Tuesday at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Buccaneers got off on the right foot early, sweeping #2 doubles 6-0 behind Viktoriia Dema and Maria Tatarnikova over Ann Cabot Stockett and Katharina Weber.
- But at the other flights, the Choctaws built leads, including 4-0 at #1 doubles. But Louanne Lutringer, playing in her first match since February, teamed with Dinara Alloiarova to come back with a 7-5 win at #3 doubles over Ricio Martinez and Ann Hudson to secure the point for Barry.
- At #3 singles, #22 Di Palma made quick work of #57 Martinez 6-2, 6-2.
- At the bottom flight, #31 Angel Lewuers defeated Alizee Ripolles 6-3, 6-3.
- The Choctaws got on the board at #14 Emma Robert defeated Alina Michalitsch 6-1, 7-5 at the top flight.
- But #52 Alloiarova closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Hudson at #5.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Barry advanced to the finals site for the 17th time in the last 18 seasons, 27th overall and the eighth in a row.
- The Buccaneers are tied for the most national championships in D-II history with eight, and they have played in the final match eight years in a row.
- Barry has won the doubles point in 20 of 23 matches this season.
- At #3 singles and #5 singles, the Bucs has just lost twice this year.
- Alloiarova improved to 19-1 in singles to lead the team.
- Lewuers and Ailen Crespo are both 15-1, while Di Palma is 12-1.
ON THE HORIZON
The Bucs advance to the national finals at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla. They await the re-seeding to determine their opponents. The 16-team tournament starts on May 21, with the championship scheduled for May 25.
