Men’s Tennis Takes Lynn Down In Their Final SSC Match

The Bucs go undefeated in conference play

BOCA RATON, Fla. --  The second-ranked Barry Buccaneers bring the regular season closer to the end with their final SSC matchup against #43-ranked Lynn Knights in Boca Raton at the Perper Tennis Complex. The Bucs emerged victorious 5-2 after dropping the double point to start the match. With the win Barry clinches the SSC Regular Season crown going a perfect 7-0. This is the first title since 2022 and seventh overall for the program. Out of the seven titles, six of them have been earned with an unblemished league record. Since 2014, when the conference started recognizing regular season champions, Barry has won seven of the 11 eligible crowns.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Barry grabbed an early lead in doubles after Riccardo Trione and Yan Kodjoed dominated on Court #3 with a 6-1 win. However, Lynn took control of the doubles point by winning two straight tiebreak sets on Courts #2 and #1. The #30-ranked duo of Demichelis and Cortimiglia edged out #31 Leo Caill and Adam Lynch 7-6(3) to clinch the first point of the match.
  • In singles, Ariel Meshulam evened the score quickly for Barry with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win on Court #6.
  • Adam Lynch followed on Court #5, overpowering Lennart Ostheimer 6-1, 6-3 to put the Bucs in front.
  • Gabriele Felline extended the lead with a confident 6-4, 6-1 win over Santino Morel on Court #2.
  • Tim Riedel kept the momentum going, delivering a clean 6-3, 6-3 win on Court #4 to clinch the match for Barry.
  • On Court #3, #30 Yan Kodjoed staged a comeback after dropping the first set. He held strong in the final tiebreak to take a 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(7) win.
  • In the last match of the day, #31 Riccardo Trione battled in a back-and-forth thriller but ultimately fell in two tiebreaks to Alessio Demichelis, 5-7, 7-6(4), 7-6(10).

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs return home for their final regular season match against NAIA's 10th ranked Keiser, on April 21 at 2pm. This will also serve as Senior Day for the Bucs.
