Women’s Tennis Bests A Feisty Keiser Team On Senior Day

The Bucs win by the skin of their teeth in today’s match

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--  The second-ranked Barry Buccaneers played their closest game of the season against the #1-ranked NAIA team Keiser Seahawks on Tuesday afternoon at the Buccaneer Tennis Center, escaping with victory 4-3 after a Doubles sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Keiser jumped out to an early lead by sweeping Courts #2 and #3 in doubles, taking the doubles point. The top-court matchup between nationally ranked pairs remained unfinished with Keiser up 5-3.
  • Barry struck back in singles. On Court #6, Patricia Apisah overwhelmed Juliana Sperb with a 6-1, 6-0 win to double Keiser's lead.
  • Barry quickly regained momentum. On Court #4, Dinara Alloiarova posted a consistent 6-4, 6-4 win over Isabella Ciancaglini in the fourth court.
  • Barry rallied with a dominant response. #5 Alina Michalitsch put the Bucs on the board with a 6-4, 6-2 win over #18 Cato Tangkau on Court #1.
  • Keiser regained momentum on Court #5, where Vanja Vidanovic took down Maria Tatarnikova 6-3, 6-4.
  • The tide turned with a huge win on Court #4. Ailen Crespo battled into a third set against Liza Velykorodna and led 7-6, 3-1 before Velykorodna retired, giving Barry a crucial point.
  • On Court #2, #10 Viktoriia Dema held strong in a three-set thriller against #17 Eloise de Mooij. After taking the first set 7-5, Dema dropped the second but stormed back to win the third 6-2.
  • With the match tied, it came down to Court #3. #69 Dinara Alloiarova delivered in the clutch, taking down #54 Isabela Mercante 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 to seal the 4-3 win for Barry.
