Runs Galore; Softball Blasts Past Assumption and Tiffin at Space Coast Games

Barry wins their 12th game in a row for longest streak since 2015

VIERA, Fla. The offense is rolling for Barry Softball as they are firing on all cylinders. The Bucs outscored opponents 25-6 in today's double header from the Space Coast Spring Games at the USSSA Space Coast Complex. Highlighting the day was the 19 runs scored against Assumption that set a new program record for runs in a game. With the runs all being batted in it is also a new program record for RBI in a game. The team also tied their record for doubles in a game, that was previously hit yesterday as well, with seven doubles in game one.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Assumption):
  • T1 | In a trend that is seeming to be set by the Bucs, the offense put up 11 runs in the first inning to take a commanding lead. Barry nearly batted through the order twice as 16 hitters walked up to the plate. Four of the seven hits were doubles. Only one out was recorded through the first go around of the lineup and it was a sacrifice fly.  | Barry 11, Assumption 0
  • T2 | The runs just kept coming for the Bucs. Barry scored four runs all with two outs with the heart of the order delivering. Sarah Langlie, Caroline Figueroa, and Paige White delivered RBI hits, Figueroa and White had back to back doubles. The Bucs batted through the order once again in the inning.| Barry 15, Assumption 0
  • T3 | Barry put up a crooked number for the third straight inning. The inning started with the bases loaded and no outs before an hour lightning delay hit. Langlie came through with another RBI-single right off the jump from the delay. | Barry 17, Assumption 0
  • B3 | Haelee Angelico had retired the first seven in order before allowing the first hit. The two hitters that reached off infield singles scored on a throwing error for the Greyhounds to finally get on the board. | Barry 17, Assumption 2
  • T4 | Bri Pellicone led the inning off with a triple down the right field line. Maggie Boyd followed with a single up the middle to bring her home. Jadyn Rogers delivered the bases loaded two-out single to right field for another run. | Barry 19, Assumption 2
  • B4 | The Greyhounds scratched for another run taking advantage of a walk and two singles. | Barry 19, Assumption 3
  • B5 | A lead off single came around to score for the final run of the game. | Barry 19, Assumption 4
NOTEWORTHY (Assumption):
  • This is the fifth run-rule victory of the season, tying the most in a season since 2015.
  • It's the first double digit scoring in an inning since 2016.
  • Mya Tucker had her first four-hit game, she also tied the record for scoring four times. The first since 2014 to do so.
  • The five runs batted in from Langlie and Figueroa are tied for ninth in program history.
  • 10 different Bucs recorded a hit.
  • Haelee Angelico got the start and earned the win, throwing three innings, allowing just two hits and punching out three.
  • Daniella Nino got her second appearance with two innings, giving up four hits, two earned runs, and getting her first career collegiate strikeout.
  • This is the sixth game the offense puts up 10+ runs. Five in the last six games.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Tiffin):
  • B1 | The Bucs do what they do best, scoring in the first inning and with two outs. A throwing error extended the inning allowing Figueroa to triple and score in Langlie. Brooklyn Rushton followed with a single to score Figueroa immediately after. | Barry 2, Tiffin 0
  • T2 | The Dragons scratched for a run as a double steal on first and third scored in a run. | Barry 2, Tiffin 1
  • T3 | Tiffin tied things up with a run in the third. A leadoff single came around to score. | Barry 2, Tiffin 2
  • B5 | Paige White walked on four straight pitches to get things going. Shelby Prevatte came in to pinch run. A fielding error kept that bat in the hands of the dangerous Bucs. Langlie made it worth it with a double to center to bring home another two runs and regain the lead. | Barry 4, Tiffin 2
  • B6 | The insurance runs came in the sixth with Sofia Chamorro tripling to left center. Tucker's two-out double brought home Pellicone who came in to pinch run for Chamorro. Bunn followed suit with a double of her own to bring home Tucker. | Barry 6, Tiffin 2
NOTEWORTHY (Tiffin):
  • Barry is outscoring opponents 49-22 in the first inning, 18-0 just as the Space Coast Games.
  • The first five hitters all recorded a hit and a RBI.
  • The freshman Isabel Vera brought home her fifth win, she threw two innings in relief, allowing just one hit and no runs.
  • Angelico picked up a save on the day with two shutout innings in relief.
  • Sarah Langlie is currently on a nine game hit streak, tied for longest on the team this season, and has reached base in 17 straight.
  • Harper Bunn has the longest on base streak with 18 in a row.
  • The 12 game win streak ties the longest since 2015.
