Baseball Sprints Past Greyhounds

Bucs snapped losing streak with offensive surge

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers sprinted past the Assumption Greyhounds 14-7 at Feinbloom Field on Wednesday night.

  • B1 - Murchael Turner got the Bucs on the board early with a solo homer to left center. Harry Vargas Seguera walked, stole second and third and scored on a fly ball. | Barry 2, Assumption 0
  • B2 - Joe Wike singled with two outs and promptly stole second. After a walk to Jimmy Bruno, the runner executed a double steal and both moved up on a wild pitch by Greyhound starter Michael Crowley. Turner drove in a run with a single to left, Seguera drove a single up the middle to put runners at the corners and stole his third base of the night. Feliz Diaz drove a double over the head of the right fielder to drive in two. | Barry 6, Assumption 0
  • B3 - Barry scored three runs on one hit in the third. Nick Toms walked, went to second then third on wild pitches. He scored on the front end of double steal with Matthew Menendez. Turner had another RBI single and Wike scored on a wild pitch. | Barry 9, Assumption 0
  • B4 - Savi Delgado walked, stole second and scored on a single by Brandon Delapenha. | Barry 10, Assumption 0
  • B5 - Barry scored four runs on one hit in the fifth. Wike had an RBI single and the Bucs also scored on two bases-loaded walks and a balk. | Barry 14, Assumption 0
  • T9 - The Greyhounds sent 12 men to the plate and scored seven runs in the ninth. Reliever Malik Foster faced seven batters, allowing six to score. He walked four, hit one and gave up on hit. Zack Allen came in ad closed out the inning for the Bucs. | Barry 14, Assumption 7

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Billy Eich (2-2) worked four scoreless innings in the split game. He allowed one hit and one walk and struck out nine.
  • The Bucs' bullpen in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings, combined to throw four scoreless, hitless innings. They walked two and struck out five.
  • Turner had a day at the plate for the Bucs, going 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI.
  • Diaz also drove in three, while Turner, Vargas Seguera and Wike all scored twice.
  • The Greyhounds issued 15 walks against two strikeouts.
