Offense Explodes At Space Coast As Softball Gets 10th Win In A Row

VIERA, Fla. The offense went to work straight out the gate as Barry Softball tied two program records at the USSSA Space Coast Complex on Tuesday evening. The win over Cedarville to start their three game appearance at the Space Coast Games marks their 10th in a row, extending the longest win streak in the Sean Cotter era.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • T1 | Mya Tucker led the game off with a single to right center, then used her speed to steal second and quickly got the Bucs offense in scoring position. Sarah Langlie then continued to stay hot at the plate kicking a single to right center that put two aboard. Caroline Figueroa then delivered a sacrifice fly for Barry to get on the scoreboard first. In a first and third double steal, Langlie scored as Brooklyn Rushton stole second after drawing a walk. Mac Stone-Folmar doubled to right center to trade places with Rushton and make it 3-0. Sofia Chamorro tripled to right center and brought home Stone-Folmar. After a pitching change, Paige White welcome the new Yellow Jacket with a double to left center to score Chamorro. | Barry 5, Cedarville 0
  • B2 | A leadoff double came in to score as the Yellow Jackets scratched for a run to try and cut into their deficit. | Barry 5, Cedarville 1
  • T3 | Rushton led off the inning with a base hit through the right side. White delivered another RBI with a single to left field to keep on tacking onto the lead. | Barry 6, Cedarville 1
  • B3 | Cedarville started the inning with a solo shot to right center. A single and then double followed to score two in the inning and cut the deficit in half. | Barry 6, Cedarville 3
  • T4 | Langlie had a base hit to left field to start the inning. She then advanced on wild pitch and an errant throw from the first baseman put her at third. This was directly followed by a fielding error from the shortstop to score Langlie. | Barry 7, Cedarville 3
  • T5 | White notched her third hit of the game with a double to center. Maggie Boyd came in to pinch run and moved to third on a wild pitch. She then scored with an RBI ground out. Tucker reached for the fourth time this game with a double to left center. Langlie delivered the two-out RBI with a double to center.   • B5 | Cedarville countered the three-run inning adding three of their own. They had a two-out rally that was capitalized with a two run shot. | Barry 10, Cedarville 6
  • T7 | The game was put out of hand with a three run top of the seventh. Harper Bunn took advantage of her final at bat with a double to left. Langlie than put the cherry on top to her day at the plate with an inside the park home run to left field. | Barry 13, Cedarville 6
NOTEWORTHY:
  • The Bucs tied two school records with seven doubles (fourth time, first since 2013) and 36 total bases (second time, first since 2011).
  • Langlie led the way with her first career four-hit game. It is her third game with four or more RBI. She was a triple shy of the cycle. She has had multiple hits in four of her last six games.
  • The freshmen is the only player this season with 4+ RBI in a game.
  • Tucker recorded her second career three-hit performance.
  • Eight of the nine starters recorded a hit. All nine starters reached base.
  • Paige White was the other Buc who had aa multi-hit game going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. It was her third multi-hit game of the season.
  • Bunn and Langlie keep their on base streak alive at 16 and 15, respectively.
  • This is the fifth game the offense puts up 10+ runs. Four in the last five games.
ON THE HORIZON
Barry will wrap up play at the Space Coast Games with a double header against Assumption and Tiffin on Wednesday, March 5.
