ST. LEO, Fla. – After a six day hiatus for the Barry Buccaneers, they got back on the diamond in Sunshine State Conference softball play hitting the road up north to take on Saint Leo. Friday nights action fell short for the Bucs was they dropped the series opener to the Lions from University Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- B1 | Saint Leo struck first with a leadoff single, then a sacrifice bunt, followed by a double to bring in the first run of the game. | Barry 0, Saint Leo 1
- B2 | The Lions strung together a two-out rally in the bottom of the second scoring three runs off three hits. Back to back singles and then a double brought home both runners. A fielding error then allowed the third run to come in. | Barry 0, Saint Leo 4
- T3 | Barry got on the board in the top of the third. Paige White led off the inning with a double to left field. Becka Mellor then had a base hit and advance on the throw to put runners in scoring position. Harper Bunn had the RBI-ground out. | Barry 1, Saint Leo 4
- B5 | SLU tacked onto their lead with another run in the bottom of the fifth. A double to get the inning started came around to score two batters later. | Barry 1, Saint Leo 5
- B6 | The game ended early courtesy of a four run bottom of the sixth. The first two batters reached and were moved over with a sacrifice bunt. Another double for the Lions brought in both runs. A triple followed to bring in a run and then a pinch hit single walked the game off. | Barry 1, Saint Leo 9
NOTEWORTHY:
- It is the first time this season Barry gets run ruled.
- Barry is now 3-1 in SSC series opening games.
- It is just the second time the Buccaneers were held to two hits.
