MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers opened their Sunshine State Conference baseball series with the Saint Leo Lions with an 8-5 win at Feinbloom Field on Friday night.

NOTEWORTHY:
- Barry used five pitchers on the night. Sean Driscoll (1-0), who came in to get out of the jam in the fifth, hit two batters, including one with the bases loaded, and also walked in a run, but got the win.
- Brady King came on with two on and no outs in the eighth, pitching the eighth and ninth on one hit to earn his first save.
- Kyle Scrape (2-4) went 5.2 innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and three walks, to take the loss.
- Diaz, Delgado and Toms all had two hits for the Bucs.
- Toms scored twice and Noriega had three RBI on his homer in the first.
- Mass and Selles each had two hits for the Lions.
- The win snapped a four-game losing streak to the lions, dating back to 2023.
