Baseball Falls In Late Rally To Panthers

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers fell 6-4 to the Florida Tech Panthers in baseball action from Seminick-Hall Field on Tuesday night in non-conference action.

  • T2 - Barry put up three runs in the second inning to take an early lead. Zavier Hatfield drove in Harry Vargas Seguera with a double to right and later stole home. Joe Wike drove in Matthew Menendez, who was hit by a pitch from Panther starter Sean Means. | Barry 3, FT 0

  • B6 - Pedro Figueroa cut the lead to one with a sacrifice fly in the sixth. | Barry 4, FT 3
  • B8 - The Panthers staged a two-out rally in the eighth for the win. Cole Patrick and Figueroa sandwiched singles around a hit batter off Barry reliever Benito Valle-Jhanda (2-2). Kevin Mebil came in and walked in the tying run, then Gabe Garrett roped a two-run single to provide the winning margin. | FT 6, Bary 4

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Payton McIntosh (1-0) worked a scoreless eighth inning to pick up the win and Noah Steckley struck out the side in the ninth for his third save.
  • Valle-Jhanda allowed three runs on three hits in 1.2 innings to take the loss.
  • Vargas Seguera had three hits, including a double, to lead Barry at the plate. Wike added two hits.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry get back into Sunshine State Conference play this weekend hosting the Saint Leo Lions at Feinbloom Field.
