Baseball Loses To Falcons

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost their first game of the season 7-2 to the Bentley Falcons at Feinbloom Field on Friday night.

SUMMARY:

  • T1 - The Falcons struck first on four walks off starter Billy Eich in the first inning.  | Bentley 1, Barry 0
  • T7 - Stan DeMartinis hit a three-run homer off reliever Sea Driscoll. | Bentley 4, Barry 0
  • T8 - Jimmy Mitchell was hit by a pitch from Aiden Ewe leading off the eighth, and later scored on a wild pitch from the Buccaneer right-hander. | Bentley 5, Barry 0
  • T9 - DeMartinis hit a two-run shot in the ninth. | Bentley 7, Barry 0
  • B9 - Kendry Noriega finally got the Bucs on the board in the bottom of the ninth with his homer of the season. | Bentley 7, Barry 2

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Eich (0-1), who settled down after a rough first inning, took the loss for the Bucs. In five innings, he allowed just the one run on one hit and struck out seven, but walked six.
  • Pat Heber (1-0) pitched seven scoreless innings in his first start of the season. He allowed two hits and two walks and struck out seven.
  • Barry's bullpen combined to give up six runs on five hits, including two homers, struck out five, walked one and hit two.
  • Noriega had two of the Bucs three hits.
  • The three hits were the fewest for the Buccaneers since a 17-2 loss to Saint Leo last season.
