Women’s Tennis Achieves Fifth Championship At ITA Indoor Championships

Strong camaraderie and team effort lead to the victory

INDIANAPOLIS, In.--  The top-ranked Barry Buccaneers conquered the ITA Indoor Championships, securing their fifth title in program history. They dominated fifth-ranked Midwestern State with a commanding 4-0 victory in the finals at the UIndy Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.

In six years of ITA Indoor Championship history, Barry reached the finals in all five of their appearances. Today, they extended their dominance by capturing their fifth championship within that span.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Bucs captured the doubles point by dominating at the top and bottom flights. 
  • Alloiarova and Di Palma swept Mazaraki and Williams 6-0 at #3.
  • At the top flight, Dema and Tatarnikova beat Yip and Garcia Morales 6-3.
  • #10 Andrea Di Palma and #19 Angela Leweurs dominated their matches. Di Palma cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over eighth-ranked Giraldo at #3 singles, while Leweurs finished 6-1, 6-1 over Williams at #6.
  • Louane Lutringer overwhelmed Ghinga in a flawless 6-0, 6-0 performance at #4 to clinch the match.

ON THE HORIZON

The Bucs get a well-earned break before returning to action against Valdosta State at the VSU Tennis Courts on March 1 at 9 a.m.
