Langlie's Heroics Come Through Clutch Again For Softball

Freshman Sarah Langlie delivers go ahead run in top of ninth for series opening win over Eagles

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. In another extra inning thriller, Barry Softball comes out on top thanks to the freshmen Sarah Langlie who delivered the game winning RBI with two outs. This gives the Bucs a 1-0 lead in the weekend series and have now won both Sunshine State Conference opening series games this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • T2 | The Buccaneers got on the board first.Becka Mellor continues to bring in the runs for Barry out of the nine-spot. She hits a sacrfice fly to bring home Sofia Chamorro who singled to reach base and moved over on a double from Paige White.  | Barry 1, ERAU 0
  • B2 | ERAU quickly tied it back up with a sacrifice fly of their own. | Barry 1, ERAU 1
  • T3 | The first three runners reached base to load them up with no outs to kick off the top half. Mac Sone-Folmar grounded into a double play but pushed in Sarah Langlie from third to regain the lead. | Barry 2, ERAU 1
  • T4 | Barry tacked on another run for the third straight inning, this one off the bat of White who sent one over the left center field wall to leadoff the inning. It was her first home run of the year. | Barry 3, ERAU 1
  • B5 | The Eagles got the first two batters aboard. Then a single and ground out scored two runners to tie it back at three-all. Barry 3, ERAU 3
  • T6 | Mellor once again came through in the clutch, with her second triple in a matter of six days to bring home Chamorro once again, who reached on a fielder's choice. | Barry 4, ERAU 3
  • B6 | A fielding error by the Buccaneers allowed the game to be knotted at four. | Barry 4, ERAU 4
  • T9 | Harper Bunn drew a two-out walk, Shelby Prevatte came in to pinch run for her. Prevatte stole second to put herself in scoring position. Langlie the came through and delivered a single to center field to take the lead. | Barry 5, ERAU 4
  • B9 - Alexis Martin worked out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the bottom of the ninth. She got two force outs at the plate and a pop up to get out of the inning with the lead. | Barry 5, ERAU 4
NOTEWORTHY
  • Martin (4-1) earned her fourth win of the season to get the series opening victory.
  • White hit her second career home run, both against Embry-Riddle. She went 2-for-2 with an RBI, a double, and a run scored.
  • Langlie and Caroline Figueroa both notched two hits as well.
  • This is the second time Langlie has delivered the game-winning hit this season.
  • The Bucs are 3-0 in extra inning games.
  • Eight of the nine starters recorded a hit in the contest.
  • Chamorro is riding a seven-game hit streak to lead the team.
  • Bunn has reached base in eight consecutive games, while Chamorro, Figueroa, and Langlie are all at seven.

The Bucs will close out the series tomorrow with a double header in Daytona Beach, first pitch is at 12:00 p.m.
