OCALA, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers swam a solid opening day at the Sunshine State Conference Championship on Wednesday.
Both men and women qualified for the A final of the 800-yard freestyle relay. The men's squad of Milosz Mencel, Balazs Ament, Roland Nagy and Jacopo Lanzo took the silver medal in a time of 6:29.94, setting a new program record, and earning the Bucs 34 points. The women, unfortunately were disqualified when one swimmer left the block early.
The men are currently tied for fourth with 38 points after the first day. In addition to the silver medal, the B team of Matthew McLean, Cris Vien, Robin Tatar and Griffin Garnot earned four points in the 800 free relay.

The championship continues on Thursday with the 200 IM, 50 free 1000 free, and the 200 medley relay.
