Baseball Loses To Washburn

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost to the Washburn Ichabods 5-3 in extra innings on Monday night at Feinbloom Field.

SUMMARY:

  • T4 - Jett Buck cranked a two-run homer to put Washburn on the board first. | Washburn 2, Barry 0
  • B5 - Barry tied the game, without benefit of a hit, in the fifth. Joe Wike and Jimmy Bruno walked. Wike scored on an error by Buck and Bruno later scored on a ground out. | Barry 2, Washburn 2
  • B8 - Barry took a lead in the bottom of the eighth. Kendry Noriega doubled down the left field line to lead off the inning and scored on a double by Savi Delgado. | Barry 3, Washburn 2
  • T9 - The Ichabods tied the game in the ninth. Elliott Bruce and Darian Duhon led off with singles and Bruce scored on a sacrifice fly by Garrett Springer. | Barry 3, Washburn 3
  • T10 - Washburn scored two in the 10th. Blake Scott walked off Barry reliever Collin McLaughlin and Chase Littrell came in to run. Jackson Mervosh came up with the only hit of the inning for the Ichabods, driving in Littrell. Mervosh later scored on another Buccaneer error. | Washburn 5, Barry 3

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Kai Bennett (1-0) worked the final 2.1 innings to get the win for Washburn. He allowed no hits or runs and struck out two.
  • McLaughlin (0-1) allowed a hit and two walking in a third of an inning to take the loss for Barry. 
  • Barry managed just five hits, but five different players.
  • Bruce, Buck and Mervosh each had two hits for Washburn.

Barry hosts the Columbus State Cougars in a three-game set this weekend.
