Men's Soccer Puts Five Players On Academic All-District Team

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Five members of the Barry University men's soccer team were recognized for their outstanding work in the class room with selection to the 2025 Academic All-District Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators.

James Averies, Stefan Momcilovic, Lulien Laborde, Martin Gasztos and Aidan de Gannes all made the district squad.

Class: Senior
Position: Defender
GPA: 3.54/4.0
Major: Sport Management

James Averies earns his first all-district award after playing in 14 games with 11 starts. He helped lead the defense to a 1.72 goals against average and two shutouts. He scored his first and only career goal as a Buccaneer on Senior Day in 1-1 draw with Florida Tech.

Class: Junior
Position: Midfielder
GPA: 3.67
Major: Finance

Stefan Momcilovic was the only Buccaneer to start in all 15 games this season, tying for the team lead with six goals and adding four assists for a team-best 16 points. He was named to the First-Team All-Sunshine State Conference and Second-Team All-South Region by the D2 Conference Commissioner's Association. It is his first All-District commendation. Momcilovic will move on to the All-American ballot.

GPA: 3.68
Major: Marketing

Julien Laborde also earns his first All-District award, after playing in 14 games and making 11 starts. He tied Momcilovic with six goals, including a team-best two game-winners, and added two assists. His game-winners both came in conference, against Eckerd on Sept. 20 and at Embry-Riddle on Oct. 4. Laborde will also move on to the All-American ballot.

Martin Gasztos picks up his second straight All-District commendation after playing in 14 games, with 13 starts. He helped lead the defense to a 1.72 goals against average and two shutouts. He also scored twice, with both goals being game-winners Both came in conference games, against Nova Southeastern on Oct. 8 and with just three seconds left against Saint Leo on Oct. 18.

Position: Midfielder
GPA: 3.85
Major: Management

Aidan de Gannes earns his first All-District award. He played in 13 games, making 12 starts in the midfield. He scored once, in the season-opener against Flagler, the very first goal of the season for the Bucs, and added two assists. 

The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men’s Soccer teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

The CSC Academic All-District® teams require players to maintain at least a 3.5 GPA as both a undergraduate and graduate student, as well as played in 90 percent of a team's games or starting at least 66 percent.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.

Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk (*) and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 16, 2025.

The Division II CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II Academic All-America® programs.
