ORLANDO -- Barry senior defender James Averies was named the men's soccer offensive player of the week for the last week of the regular season. The award, sponsored by Pollo Compero, is the first of his career.
Averies scored the late equalizer for Barry in a 1-1 regular-season finale draw with No. 17 Florida Tech. The Englishman found the back of the net with a 20-yard strike in the 82nd minute off a Humberto Benavidez assist. Averies totaled four shots and three shots on goal in the tie. With his score, Barry forced a rematch between the two squads in the first round of the conference playoffs.
