BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers opened the season with a 54-46 loss to the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans at the de Hoernle Center on the campus of Lynn University in the Sunshine State Conference/Gulf South Conference Crossover Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday.

A three-pointer from Kornelia Ignerska at the 4:48 mark knotted the game at 17-17. - 3Q - The Trojans rolled out of the locker room with a 5-0 run to mark their biggest lead, 31-19 on a three-pointer by Jordan Gilles with 5:54 left in the period. Barry trimmed the lead to just three points over the next five minutes, with Paola Pareja Xargayo converting a steal and layup with 0:57 seconds left. - 4Q - In the fourth quarter, Ignerska hit another triple with 7:09 to play to cut the lead to just one, 41-40, and Andreonia Doe gave the Bucs their only lead, 42-41 on the next possesion. But the Bucs missed three straight three-pointers and the Trojans converted three in a row to pust the lead back to 10 points at the 3:00 mark and took another 12-point lead at 2:17 on a masket by Woods. NOTEWORTHY:
- Ignerska scored a game-high 19 points over the last three quarters, hitting 6-of-11 from behind the arc.
- She led three Bucs in double figures, as Kendall Parker and Pareja Xargayo each had 10 points.
- But the rest of the team only combined for seven points in the loss.
- Gilles led the Trojans with 18, as the only player.
- Pareja Xargayo also had 10 rebounds to post a double-double and Izzy Brenzil led the team with six assists.
