Softball Drops Season Opener At West Florida

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Barry University Softball outhits West Florida, but falls short on the scoreboard in their season opener on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • B2 | West Florida got on the board first with a two-out, two-run homerun to right center off the bat of Emma Brice to take the early 2-0 lead.
  • B3 | A two-out steal of third base by the Argos, followed by a base hit through the right side, extended the lead to 3-0.
  • B5 | An error to lead off the inning came around to cost the Bucs another run. UWF made it a 4-0 game.
  • B6 | Hannah Harper, from West Florida, had a leadoff triple that would score on the next play to close out the final insurance run at 5-0.
NOTEWORTHY
  • Barry outhit West Florida 7-6 in the contest.
  • The Buccaneers stranded 10 runners on the base path, to West Florida's four.
  • Samantha Rosenberger got the start, allowing three runs off four hits in four innings of work.
  • Haelee Angelico came into relief for Rosenberger and allowed one earned run, off two hits, and collecting two strikeouts.
  • Harper Bunn reached base twice off two Argonaut errors.
  • Mac Stone-Folmar and Sofia Chamorro each had multi-hit games, going 2-for-3.
ON THE HORIZON
The opening weekend road trip continues with the Bucs traveling to Gulf Shores, Alabama to play in the Gulf Coast Invitational. It will feature three games, with two matchups against top-10 teams in no. 8 North Georgia and no. 9 Rogers State.
