Baseball Loses To Rollins

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost 9-4 to the Rollins Tars at Feinbloom Field on Thursday night in the opening game of a Sunshine State Conference baseball series.

SUMMARY:

  • T1 - Jack Herring hit a solo homer in the top of the first. | Rollins 1, Barry 0
  • B2 - Evan Wickeri, who had singled, scored when Tars first baseman Oscar Murray muffed a throw at first. | Barry 1, Rollins 1
  • T3 - Murray hit a two-out solo homer in the third. | Rollins 2, Barry 1
  • T5 - Shortstop Jose Perez drilled a two-run homer down the right field line. | Rollins 4, Barry 1
  • T6 - Herring scored from first on a double down the left field line by Matt Farner. Rollins 5, Barry 1

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Edward Berry (2-3) held the Bucs to an unearned runs on six hits and three walks in six innings to get the win.
  • Jacob Burr tossed the final three innings and got the save despite giving up the the three-run homer to Forchic.
  • Anthony Bennetti (0-2) allowed five runs on three hits (all homers) in five-plus innings. He walked two and struck out two.
  • Freddy Rodriguez and Wickeri each had three hits to lead the Bucs, while Kevin Noriega went 2-for-4.
  • Herring and Farner each had two hits for Rollins, with Herring scoring three times and Farner driving in two runs.
