Baseball's Bats Explode In 11-1 Drubbing Of Falcons

Cespedes picks up second win

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneer bats exploded for an 11-1 drubbing of the Bentley Falcons on Sunday at Feinbloom Field.

SUMMARY:

  • B3 - The Bucs got on the board first in the third inning off Falcon starter Marc Cedrone (0-1). Brandon Sanchez walked with one out and went to second on a failed pick off by Cedrone. After moving up on a fly ball, she scored on a single by Jimmy Bruno. | Barry 1, Bentley 0
  • B4 - Sean Shelly singled with two outs and scored ahead of a double by Braden Forchic. | Barry 2, Bentley 0
  • T5 - Brendan Sencaj cut the lead to one with a leadoff homer in the fifth. | Barry 2, Bentley 1
  • B5 - The Bucs broke open the close game in the bottom of the fifth, sending nine men to the plate and scoring four. Felix Diaz had a two-run single with the bases loaded and Kevin Noriega followed with a two-run double. | Barry 6, Bentley 1
  • B7 - Barry batted around in the seventh to score five more runs. Savi Delgado led off with a double and scored on a base hit by Noriega. After pinch hitter Brady Neel was hit by a pitch, he slide in safely at second when the throw was off line to load the bases. Christian Maceda followed with a bases-clearing double. He later scored on a single by Steven Nitch. | Barry 11, Bentley 1

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Angel Cespedes (2-0) won his second straight start. He worked seven innings, striking out nine. He allowed one run on six hits and a walk. 
  • Freshman Felix Arroyo worked two perfect innings in his first varsity appearance.
  • Cedrone gave up six runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks in 4.1 innings. 
  • Noriega and Maceda both went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI.
  • Delgado and Nitch each had two hits as well.
  • Snecaj's homer was largely the only offense for the Falcons.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs play a three-game set against Frostburg State next weekend.
