Davie, Fla. -- The Barry Swimming team returned to the NSU Aquatic Center to take on Nova Southeastern. This was the first of a two-day meet, with the Barry men's team scoring 46 points and the women's team achieving a score of 23. Both teams finished in second place. This marked the Buccaneers' second meet against Nova Southeastern after starting their season against their conference rival. Their next match will be against St. Thomas (TX), also held at the NSU Aquatic Center. Despite swimming fearlessly, the Bucs came up short, with the final scores being (insert scores).
The women's team was led by standout performances from Diana Suprun and Kate Rutledge. Suprun excelled in the 50-yard freestyle, achieving a season-best time of 25.13 to secure second place, while also contributing in the 200 breaststroke and 200 free relay. Rutledge displayed her versatility with strong swims in the 500 free and 200 backstroke, earning points in both events. Evelin Zbisko also had a notable day, securing third place in the 200 IM with a season-best time of 2:10.34, significantly contributing to the team's efforts.
The Barry Swimming team returned for Day 2 of the meet with strong performances across the board. The women's team showed resilience and determination, led by Evelin Zbisko, she excelled in the 400 IM with a time of 4:36.48, earning four critical points for Barry. Diana Suprun continues to impress, achieving a personal best in the 100 Fly with a time of 59.58 and contributing to the team's third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. Kauri Parsons and Paige Maclean showed some grit in the 1000 Free, securing points while setting personal bests. In the 100 Breaststoke, Celina Myers dropped 0.12 seconds from her previous record to earn points alongside her teammate Diana Suprun.

The men's team was led by commanding performances from several players. Matthew McLean's victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:41.44 secured first place and nine crucial points for Barry. McLean also contributed significantly in the 200 fly, finishing second in a tight race. Jacopo Lanzo showcased his versatility with strong performances in the 500 free, 50 free, and 100 free, earning valuable points and achieving multiple season-best times. Robin Tatar and Balazs Ament were standout contributors, with Tatar slashing six seconds off his previous record in the 200 fly to take second place, and Ament setting a personal best in the 200 breast, where he claimed first place with a time of 2:00.09.
The Barry men's team showcased another solid performance on Day 2, led by
Roland Nagy and
Balazs Ament. Nagy delivered a stellar swim in the 100 Backstroke, claiming first place with a time of 50.08 and securing 9 points for the team. Ament impressed in multiple events, setting personal bests in the 100 Breast (55.72) and the 400 IM (4:02.04), earning valuable points in both races.
Matthew McLean also stood out in the 1000 Free, dropping 12 seconds from his previous record to finish with a season-best time of 9:49.38. The relay team of Nagy, Ament, Mencel, and Lanzo delivered a solid performance in the 200 Medley Relay, finishing in second place with a time of 1:31.83.
