MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Barry Buccaneers opened the season with a 72-50 win over the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans at the Canale Arena on the campus of Christian Brothers University in the Sunshine State Conference/Gulf South Conference Crossover Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday.

The defense played a big role, holding the Trojans to 3-of-11 shooting and only nine points, while the Bucs rolled up 18. NOTEWORTHY:
- Jennings led the Bucs with 18 points, shooting 9-of-10 from the free throw line.
- Green chipped in 13 points, four rebounds and two assists.
- Colleen Bucknor and Aijah Palmore each had nine rebounds to led Barry to a 49-22 edge on the glass.
- Freshman Kaliyah Morales had six assists.
- Tatum Shaw, with 12 points, was the only Trojan in double-figures.
- Barry out-scored TNU 18-7 on second-chance points and 11-6 on the fast break.
