MIAMI SHORES, Fla. — Barry Volleyball picked up the first County-Line Cup points in the sport with a hard-earned victory on Monday evening from the Health & Sports Center. The Bucs defeated Nova Southeastern in five sets, winning the first two, dropping the next two, and then rallying from behind to win the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set One - Barry dominated in the first set using an 11-1 run to put the set out of hand early. The Bucs hit .286 and had six blocks to force seven Shark attacking errors. | Barry 25, Nova Southeastern 12
- Set Two - A 5-0 start to the set from the Bucs set another early statement. Barry held a healthy lead throughout with Varvara Osychenko closing the door with two kills and a service ace to make it 2-0. | Barry 25, Nova Southeastern 15
- Set Three - Nova turned it around and took over in the third set. Barry had their lowes set witth a .188 hitting clip. | Barry 20, Nova Southeastern 25
- Set Four - In a much tighter set, Barry worked to sttay alive and fightt back tto make it 18-17. However, NSU ran away with it on a 8-2 run. | Barry 20, Nova Southeastern 25
- Set Five - In the winner take all set, Barry started off strong with a service ace from Petra Brkicic. Nova rallied a 5-0 run that turned into a 10-6 lead. From that point on it was the Diana Akopova show. Akopova accounted for six of the last nine points, sparking the 9-1 rally to close out the match. NOTEWORTHY:
- Barry is now 1-1 in five-set matches this year.
- Diana Akopova led the match with 26 kills. She hit .308 with six blocks and seven digs.
- Akopova continues to climb the rankings now 3rd all-time on the career kills leader board.
- Veronika Eremeeva picked up a double-double with 16 kills and 12 digs.
