Swimming Sets New Records in Midseason Meet at IRSC Collegiate Invitational

The Bucs had 12 new records set between both teams

FORT PIERCE, Fla. -- The Barry Swimming teams traveled to the Anne Wilder Aquatic Center to take on the IRSC Collegiate Invitational. Over a three-day meet, the Barry women's team scored a 47, while the men tallied a score of 196. Both teams finished in fifth place. This was the Bucs midseason meet, that tested their skills against NJCAA powerhouse and host Indian River; Sunshine State opponents Florida Southern and Rollins, and top-ranked NAIA program, St. Thomas. There were 12 new program records set, 11 personal best and over 40 season bests.

The women's team was led by Celina Myers who was a part of all four program records that were broken. Myers set three individual records, while helping in the 200-free relay. There were also four personal best set and 12 season best in the meet. Seventeen swims resulted into a final with Diana Surprun taking three into the B-Final.

The men's team was led by Balazs Ament who was a part of six of the eight program records that were set. Ament set four individual records, while helping in the 200 and 400-medley relays. There were also seven personal best times set and 30 season best at the meet. Of the 13 individual events, Barry had swimmer qualify for a final in 12 of them, with 23 different swims total. Roland Nagy and Ament led the way with five A-Final placements, Nagy brought how the only individual medal with a gold in the 200-back.
