Full Team Effort Propels Volleyball Past Saint Leo

13 Bucs see the court in commanding 3-0 sweep

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.  Momentum stay inside the Health & Sports Center as the Barry Volleyball team collects their second straight sweep against a conference opponent. The Bucs were in control from the start defeating Saint Leo Univeristy on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Set One - Barry opened up on a 4-0 run that was quickly erased by the Lions in their first service. The two teams traded off points until Barry finally found separation and went on a four-point run capped off by an ace from Varvara Osychenko. Gaia Riedmuller held service for the last seven points, recording two service aces. | Barry 25, Saint Leo 12
  • Set Two - Dominance trickled into the second set as Barry swung a .421 clip. Six different Bucs collected a kill. Osychenko and Ivana Zujovic recorded three service aces each. Before the final rally from the Lions, Barry did not allow Saint Leo to get more than two points in a row in the entire set. | Barry 25, Saint Leo 12
  • Set Three - The final set saw a carousel of Bucs see the court as 13 different players stepped on the floor. The offense outhit Saint Leo 18-8 in kills in the set. Barry closed it out on a 9-3 run to secure the match sweep. | Barry 25, Eckerd 15

NOTEWORTHY:

  • No front row player hit under .250 for the match. 
  • Diana Akopova was the lone player with double-digit kills with 11,hitting .500 with just one error.
  • Petra Brkicic captained the offense with 22 assists.
  • Veronika Eremeeva had a near double-double with nine kills and 13 digs.
  • This is the 13th sweep of the season.
  • The 12 service aces is the sixth time the Bucs have been in double-figures in that category.
ON THE HORIZON:

Barry remains home to start out another three match week taking on the Nova Southeatern Sharks Monday, November 4 with first serve set at 7:00 p.m.
