Women's Basketball Falls To Saint Leo On The Road

SAINT LEO, Fla. --  The Barry women's basketball team dropped an SSC road matchup against the Saint Leo Lions 69-57 at the Bowman Center on Saturday afternoon.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - Saint Leo came out of the gate red hot, taking a 24-5 lead after the end of the first frame. Saint Leo used gained the advantage thanks to seven Barry turnovers that resulted in 10 points for the Lions.  | Saint Leo 24, Barry 5
  • 2Q - The Bucs then gave the Lions a taste of thier own medicine, the Bucs dominated the second quarter 26-8. The Bucs went 13-13 from the free throw line in the quarter and benefited from 12 second chance points. The Bucs went on a 19-2 run in the quarter. | Saint Leo 32, Barry 31
  • 3Q - The Bucs came all the way back and took a two minture lead at the 7:30 mark behind two Audfrey Jennings free-throws. The Bucs made four three-pointers and the Lions only made one, which was the difference in the quarter. | Saint Leo 45, Barry 49
  • 4Q - The Lions started off the fourth frame fast, going up by four prior to the media timeout. The Bucs hurt themselves in the quarter by turning the ball over six times and shooting 3-14 from the field. The offensive struggle was too much to come back from.  | Saint Leo 69 , Barry 57

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Audrey Jennings broke the single game free-throw percentage program record going 13-13 (100%). 
  • Two Bucs scored in double figures, Jennings (27) and Chiara Fusari (12) led the way. 
  • Fusari and Jennings both made four threes. 
  • Aijah Palmore led the Bucs in rebounding (9). 

ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs will travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to take on the Lynn Fighting Knights at the de Hoernle Center on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 5:30 pm.
