Fusari's Seaon-High Leads Women's Basketball Past Knights

Senior pumped in 31 points

BOCA RATON, Fla. --  Senior guar Chiara Fusari pumped in a season-high 31 points to lead the Barry Buccaneers past arch-rival Lynn 69-55 on Wednesday at the de Hoernle Center.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - The Knights jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first two minutes, but the Bucs came back to tied the game 10-10 on a layup by Fusari with 3:23 left in the period. Lynn held a two-point lead t the break. | Lynn 14, Barry 12
  • 2Q - Barry used a 13-8 run over the first five minutes of the second period to take a 25-22 after a Fusari three-point play in transition. Down by four, Lynn briefly regained the lead 30-29 on a layup by Trinity Moncadlo. But Fusari resopnded to send the Bucs into the break up by one.  |  Barry 31, Lynn 30
  • 3Q - The Knights took back the lead to start the second half, until back-to-back three-pointers by Fusari and Audrey Jennings gave Barry a lead, 42-38, that they would not relinquish. Another Jennings triple gave the Bucs an eight-point lead with 3:26 to play and the Bucs held a 54-47 lead at the last quarter break. | Barry 54, Lynn 47
  • 4Q - The Knights went cold from the field, shooting just 4-for-16 in the fourth period and did not score for the final 2:31 as Bary pulled away down the stretch.  | Barry 69, Lynn 55

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Fusari's 31 was the most this season and the most she scored since tallying her career-high 34 at Tampa last November. She also added six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and three steals.
  • Jennings added 18 and Lauren Livingston chipped in 12 points.
  • Kayla Lindsey lead the Bucs to a 43-37 edge on the boards with a game-high 11 rebounds.
  • Danielle Montelbano led Lynn with 20 points, while Ella Fiore had 11 and a team-high eight rebounds.

ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs host the Embry-Riddle Eagles on Saturday, Jan. 13 on Cesar Odio Court in the Health & Sports Center.
