Women's Basketball Drops Heart-breaker to Mocs

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. --  The Barry women's basketball team dropped a 64-63 heart-breaker to the Florida Southern Moccasins on Wednesday night in the Health & Sports Center.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - Barry opened up the game on fire, sprinting out to a 12-2 lead in the first five minutes of the game. They traded baskets with the Mocs and carried a seven-point lead into the break. | Barry 23, FSC 16
  • 2Q - Barry continued to lead by seven after an Audrey Jennings layup with 4:52 left in the second quarter. But the Mocs rolled off an 8-0 run to take the lead before Barry answered with four points to go into half up one. | Barry 35, FSC 34
  • 3Q - Jennings and Lauren Livingston hit back-to-back triples to start the third, giving Barry a five-point edge. But another 8-0 run for the Mocs put Barry back in a hole. Florida Southern closed on an 11-4 run to go into the final break up five.  | FSC 56, Barry 51
  • 4Q - The Bucs' defense held FSC to just eight points in the fourth period, but the Bics only managed 12. The Bucs clawed back to within one on a jumper by Chiara Fusari at the 2:38 mark and Jennings nailed a pair of free throws to put the Bucs up 63-62. Amari Jackson flipped the score with a pair from the stripe at 1:10 and the two teams combined to miss their last eight shots from the field.  | FSC 64 , Barry 63

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Fusari led the Bucs with 21 points, while Jennings added 17.
  • The Mocs, who came into the game without a player averaging double figures, had four score more them 10, led by Arriyana Bracero with 15.

The Bucs visit league-leading Tampa on Saturday in the Martinez Center.
