MIAMI SHORES, Fla - Trailing by three points with 39 seconds left to play on Saturday evening, the Barry University men's basketball team scored the final five points of the Sunshine State Conference contest to outlast visiting Embry-Riddle 81-79.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- 1H | Trailing early 6-2, Barry used a quick 5-0 run to take a 7-6 lead with 16:23 remaining in the opening half. The two sides traded the ensuing eight points to maintain the one-point Barry advantage before a 5-0 Embry-Riddle spree created a 15-11 score with 12:36 left in the half. Barry rallied to get within one at 30-29, only for an 11-2 ERU run making it 41-31 with 2:38 remaining in the half. The Bucs ended the half with nine of the final 12 points to make it 44-40 at the break.
- 2H | Barry evened the score at 47-all off a 7-4 start to the second half, reclaiming the lead at 52-51 with 15:52 left to play. Embry-Riddle responded with an 8-0 run to pull ahead 59-52, holding the Bucs without a run of consecutive baskets until a 6-0 rally made it a one-possession game at 71-68 with 6:07 remaining. The two sides traded the ensuing 14 points to keep the deficit at three before Barry ended the game with the final five points.
NOTEWORTHY:
- James Montgomery filled out the stat sheet behind a team-leading 24 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
- Ga'Khari Lacount added 16 points and four assists.
- Adren Roberts scored 14 points with one block and one steal.
- Barry converted on 25-61 shots, going 4-21 from distance and 27-38 from the free throw line.
- Embry-Riddle went 27-63 from the field, 8-23 from three-point territory and 17-25 from the free throw line.
- Barry committed 12 turnovers, resulting in 13 points for the Eagles. Embry-Riddle committed 16 turnovers, leading to 19Â points for Barry.
- Embry-Riddle held a 44-32 advantage in rebounds.
- Both teams recorded seven steals and three blocks.
