Bucs Cross Country Gear Up For FSU Invitational

The Bucs Men’s and Women’s team will both compete in their third race of the season

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. — The anticipation is building as the Barry University Buccaneers Men's and Women's Cross Country teams prepare to take on a thrilling challenge at the renowned Florida State Invitational. Yesterday morning, the Bucs set out on their journey to Tallahassee. The race will take place at Apalachee Regional Park, which was host to the 2021 NCAA D1 championship. This sets the stage for an exciting day of cross country racing.

The speedy Buccaneer men will begin their days first with the men's 8K race, scheduled to start at 7:40 AM. Following closely, the women's 5K race is expected to begin around 8:15 AM, featuring the formidable Barry University women's squad.

INSIDE THE MEET:

Over the years at this competition, The College Men's 8K division has witnessed impressive records, with Conner Mantz (BYU 2021) holding the top position with a remarkable time of 22:47.0. Additionally, in the College Women's 5K category, Mercy Chelangat (Alabama 2020) achieved a staggering time of 16:50.30, leaving her mark on the FSU Invitational record books.

The Bucs will look to literally follow in their footsteps if they can. A total of 44 collegiate cross country teams will be competing in this year's invitational. The amount of competition ensures that the Bucs will have an opportunity to build on their prior success and get one step closer to bringing another title back to Barry.

ON THE HORIZON: 
The Buccaneers will travel to North Park in Ave Maria, Florida for the Ave Maria Invitational starting at 8:15am.
