Bucs improve to 3-0-0 in conference

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers swamped the Nova Southeastern Sharks 3-0 in Sunshine State Conference men's soccer action at Buccaneer Field on Wednesday night.

Records: Barry (3-2-1, 3-0-0 SSC), NSU (3-3-1, 0-2-1 SSC)

SUMMARY:

  • 9:55 - The Bucs struck first in the 10th minute for the second time against the Sharks. David Polanco took a point blank shot that NSU keeper Eduardo D'Avino stopped, but the Sharks could not clear. Oier Calvillo tracked down the ball on the right wing and sent a cross back to the far post where Polanco got another shot and this time buried in in the back of the net. | Barry 1, NSU 0
  • 54:41 - In the second half, Nicolas Villalobos cranked a shot from 19 yards into the top corner of the net after Peekay Stoffle found him open at the top of the box. | Barry 2, NSU 0
  • 59:22 - The Bucs got one final goal late. Lucas Silva, who kept pushing the ball down the left side, got free on the end line and whipped a cross through the box to Jean Ghafourian who headed the ball past D'Avino for the final tally. | Barry 3, NSU 0

  • The win avenged an earlier, non-conference loss, 2-1, to the Sharks this year.
  • Barry dominated play in this contest, out-shooting the Sharks 15-3, including 11-2 on goal.
  • Barry keeper Rafael Furlani won his third straight game, and posted his second-straight shutout in conference action. He now has a 209 minute scoreless streak.
