Men's Soccer Slips Past Eagles On The Road

Polanco scores the game-winner in the 88th minute

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers got a late goal from David Polanco to slip past the Embry-Riddle Eagles 1-0 in Sunshine State Conference men's soccer action from ERAU Soccer Stadium on Saturday night.

SUMMARY:

  • 87:43 Barry dominated play, but could not break through until the 88th minute. Cameron McDonald found David Polanco who beat Eagle keeper Ferriol Caballe for the winner. | Barry 1, ERAU 0

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The Bucs held a 10-3 edge in shots, including 4-1 on goal and took 12 corners to none for the Eagles.
  • Rafael Furlani had to make one save to post his first shutout as a Buccaneer.
  • Caballe had three saves, but conceded Polanco's game-winner.
  • Though the Bucs have not lost to the Eagles, the games in Daytona Beach have been very competitive, with a pair of 2-2 draws and tonight's 1-0 win among the five games.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry host the Nova Southeastern Sharks in a Sunshine State Conference match at Buccaneer Field on Wednesday, Sept. 27. The game, which kicksoff at 7:00 pm, is a rematch from a non-league tilt earlier in the season, won by the Sharks 2-1.
