Jeyhlen Thomas in a 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 26-24) setback against 17th-ranked Washburn University

SUMMARY:
- Set 1 - Facing a daunting 20-13 score, the Buccaneers rallied behind a 6-1 run to get within two at 21-19 before a 3-0 retort by Washburn forced set point.Â
- Set 2 - Trailing early 9-3, Barry cut the separation in half behind a 7-4 rally only for Washburn to respond with four of the following five points to extend their lead to 17-11 and kept the lead above five for the rest of the frame.
- Set 3 - After splitting the initial 14 points of the frame, Barry scored three-straight points and 10 of the ensuing 12 overall to boast a 17-9 advantage. The Buccaneers fended off Washburn's rally that brought them within one at 23-22 behind back-to-back points to force set point, only for the Ichabods to end the game behind a 3-0 run.Â
NOTEWORTHY:
- Akopova led all players with 18 kills while adding seven digs and six blocks (one solo, five assisted).
- Thalia Iglesias dished out 20 assists with seven digs.
- Varvara Osychenko  added 12 kills with seven digs.
- Ana Perez recorded a team-best 13 digs.
- Thomas assisted on six blocks.
- As a team, Barry had 12 total blocks versus six for Washburn.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Buccaneers leave the Sunshine State for the only time this season to take part in the UAH Invitational, kicking off their four-game weekend against the University of Montevallo on Friday, Sept. 8 with first serve set for 3:30 pm.
