Buccaneer Softball Shutout by Sharks

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University softball team fell 6-0 to the Sharks of Nova Southeastern University in the opener of a Sunshine State Conference (SSC) three-game series at Buccaneer Field in Miami Shores, Florida, on Friday night.

All-Time Series: Buccaneers lead the all-time series, 53-24, and avoided a sweep at Davie last season with a 3-0 win in the final game of the series.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Barry's scoreless streak extends to 26 innings; since tying #1 Tampa in the top of the 4th last Friday on the road, the Bucs have not scored a run.
  • Maci Barnhart (L, 10-13) recorded the 150th strikeout of the season when she got her counterpart, Drogemuller, looking at a 1-2 pitch.
  • Drogemuller (W, 17-6) started the game with 47 Ks in 142 innings and fanned six Bucs on the night.
  • Cassandra Lee, who had one of the three Buccaneer hits, came in relief to pitch 1.1 innings and struck out two Sharks.
  • Brooklyn Rushton crushed a double off the fence in left field; Lisa Heller had the only other hit for the Bucs.

Barry and Nova Southeastern meet at Buccaneer Field for a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 4 p.m.
