Tars Take Two From Buccaneer Softball

Rollins edges Barry, 4-3, in 12-inning nightcap

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (Saturday, March 25, 2023) -- The Barry University softball team dropped a pair of Sunshine State Conference (SSC) matchups to Rollins College, 6-4 and 4-3 (12 Innings), at Buccaneer Field on Saturday in Miami Shores, Florida. Starting pitchers in game one - Rollins' Emily MacMullen and Barry's Maci Barnhart - went the distance in the opener and both finished with decisions in the nightcap. MacMullen improves to 13-7 on the season while Barnhart falls to 8-9 in the circle.

Cassandra Lee walked on four pitches and Rylee Lord was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs. A double-play grounder to third cut down Bunn at the plate and left runners at second and third. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Buccaneers left 15 runners on base in the nightcap including seven in the final six frames when they had a chance to walk it off.
  • Harper Bunn had a two-run double in game one for the Buccaneers.
  • Alexis Bailey and Brooklyn Rushton both had a pair of base hits in the nightcap.
  • Emily MacMullen picked up two wins in the circle while hurling 13.2 innings and allowing no earned runs on eight hits.
  • Maci Barnhart was tagged with both losses while pitching a complete game in the opener and the final 2.2 innings of the nightcap.
  • Buccaneer pitchers combined to strikeout 20 Tars in the nightcap - Cassandra Lee (8), Haelee Angelico (6), Maci Barnhart (6). Barnhart had five Ks in the opener.
