Buccaneer Softball Drops Two to Fighting Knights

Bucs fall in extras before getting blanked in nightcap

BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 18, 2023) -- The Barry University softball team lost both games of a doubleheader at Lynn University, 5-4 in eight innings and 5-0, at McCusker Complex in Boca Raton, Florida, on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights used a series of great defensive plays, timely hits and dominant pitching to sweep the doubleheader as Aymee Godmaire hit a walk-off single in game one and Haley Fardanesh tossed a shutout in game two. Lynn moved to 17-15 overall and 7-5 in the Sunshine State Conference and Barry dropped to 20-16 overall and 6-6 in league play.

All-Time Series: Barry now leads the all-time series, 57-26, and the Buccaneers had won six straight against the Fighting Knights before today's sweep.

  • T4: Barry took a 4-2 lead after Rylee Lord walked, Alexis Bailey singled, and Sofia Chamorro walked to load the bases. After one out, Jordan Ream singled to score Lord. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Buccaneers totalled nine hits in two games.
  • Cassandra Lee had the only extra-base hit for the Bucs, a double in game two.
  • Alexis Bailey, Becka Mellor, Jordan Ream had hits in both games.
  • Lee (L, 7-4) allowed two earned runs on six hits while striking out two Fighting Knights.
  • Barnhart (L, 8-7) was a reliever in game one and took the loss in extra innings.
