MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (Friday, March 10, 2023) -- The Barry University baseball team defeated Bloomfield College Bears, 12-3, at Feinbloom Field on Friday night in non-league action.

All-Time Series: Barry leads 6-0 with all contests held in Miami Shores, Fla. The first meeting was a 5-3 victory in 2004 which is the most runs scored by Bloomfield in the series. The Buccaneers won 20-1 in 2007.

- T6: Tyree Bradley greeted reliever Miguel Villafane with single to left center. Angel Murray grounded out to Sanchez at second while Bradley advanced. - B6: Buccaneers brought 10 batters to the plate in a five-run 6th. Evan Wickeri singled to left field with one out and stole second. Joe Stella singled through the right side to plate Wickeri. Kevin Noriega singled down the right field line to advance Stella to third. Matthew Menendez reached on a fielder's choice while Stella scored.   Jake Ogden singled to right field, advanced to second on the throw, and Menendez advanced to third.   Pinch-hitter Jarrett May reached on a throwing error while Ogden and Menendez scored unearned runs. NOTEWORTHY:
- Bloomfield played earlier today against University of New Haven on a neutral site in Boca Raton. The Chargers defeated the Bears, 9-3.
- Kevin Noriega had a 4-for-4 night at the plate with two RBI and a run scored.
- Anthony Bennetti (W, 2-0) went five innings allowing just one run on three hits, walking one, and striking out nine Bears.
- Miguel Villafane pitched three innings with five Ks and Johnny Vasquez closed the 9th wtih two strikeouts as Buccaneer hurlers fanned 16 Bears on the night.
- Five other Bucs had multiple hits including Brandon Sanchez, Christian Maceda, Evan Wickeri, Joe Stella, and Jake Ogden.
- Jonas Espinal collected three hits for the Bears.
- Luis Ramirez' solo homer in the 3rd was his first of the season.
- Jason Fras-Rosario (L, 0-1) took the loss after tripling his innings of work from the start of the game (1.1 to 4.0).
ON THE HORIZON:
The Buccaneers continue the home stand while hosting Adelphi University on Saturday at 6 p.m. The Bucs have won five straight against the Panthers with the last meeting coming in 2019 (7-1) at Feinbloom Field.
