Men's Basketball Races to Big Home Win over Lynn

Nine Bucs in scoring column in 24-point margin of victory

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University men's basketball gained revenge on Lynn University with a runaway 82-58 victory in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action Wednesday evening at the Health & Sports Center in Miami Shores, Florida. The Buccaneers improve to 9-11 overall and 5-10 in the league while the Fighting Knights drop to 4-17 overall and 2-14 in SSC play.

All-Time Series:  The Buccaneers improve to 34-27 in the all-time series and even their home record against the Fighting Knights at 13 wins apiece.

SUMMARY:

  • 1H - Barry held an opponent to a season-low output in any regulation period (21 points) with six blocked shots and six steals on the defensive side. Lynn shot just 23.1 percent (6-for-26) while the Buccaneers made 16-of-31 from the floor (51.6 percent). James Montgomery had a team-high 10 points at the break for the home team, but freshman Nordin Kapic led all players with 12 points. Isaiah Washington and Adren Roberts each had two blocked shots.   • 2H - Four Buccaneers finished in double-figure scoring with James Montgomery and Tyler Hawkins topping the list at 13 points apiece. Kapic doubled that total with a game-high 26 for Lynn on 8-of-14 from the floor; he added 17 rebounds for a double-double. Montgomery also led Barry with eight boards, four at each end. NOTEWORTHY:

  • James Montgomery (13), Tyler Hawkins (13), Nick Anderson (12), and Malik Stanley (10) all posted double-digit points for the Buccaneers.
  • Montgomery led Barry with eight rebounds.
  • Nordin Kapic, whose layup with less than two seconds at home sealed a win for Lynn against Barry last month, led all players with a double-double (26 points, 17 rebounds).
  • Buccaneers never trailed in the contest and led by as many as 29 points (75-46 with 4:36 remaining).
  • Nick Anderson and Tyler Hawkins both posted a plus-23 on the +/- column for the Buccaneers.
  • Amari Haynes, OT Delancey, and Montgomery each finished with a blocked shot to add to Washington and Roberts' two apiece.
