MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University softball team split a doubleheader with Florida Southern College on Saturday, falling 3-1 in the opener and taking the nightcap by a final of 4-0, to finish with two out of three in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) series.

Game 1
- T1: Kelsey Peck opened the game with a single off Buccaneer starter Cassandra Lee (L, 5-1). Peck stole second before Kenleigh Smith doubled to left center to score first run. Maddi Conner sacrificed Smith to third and Taylor Thomas had an RBI single to shortstop. | Florida Southern 2, Barry 0
- T2: Jadyn Bushnell reached on an error to start the inning and advanced to second on a passed ball. After Lee go a Moccasin to strike out looking, Peck singled to left center to score Bushnell with the unearned run. | Florida Southern 3, Barry 0
- T4: Cassandra Lee and Rylee Lord led off the 4th with bases on balls off Moccasin starter Mel Rogers (W, 3-1). Hayley Pasma singled to left center to load the bases. Sofia Chamorro singled to third base to score the lone Buccaneer run. - B4: Taylor Thompson singled to center field and stole second. Mac Stone-Folmar walked before Cassandra Lee loaded the bases with a bunt single. Rylee Lord drove in one run with a single to left and Sofia Chamorro had an RBI sacrifice bunt.. | Barry 2, Florida Southern 0
- B6: Mac Stone-Folmar doubled to deep left center to lead off the frame. Cassandra Lee single through the right side and Coach Sean Cotter held Stone-Folmar at third, recalling the throw out at home from Jessica Bryson the previous night. Lee and Stone-Folmar subsequently executed a double steal to give the Bucs a 3-0 lead. Lisa Heller pinch ran for Lee and was out at third trying to advance on Rylee Lord's fielder's choice grounder to the left side. Angel Villanueva pinch ran for Lord and advanced to second on Hayley Pasma's single through the left side. Sofia Chamorro reached on a fielder's choice and Villanueva was erased at third. Chamorro and Pasma moved up on a wild pitch with Pasma scoring an unearned run after a Moccasin throwing error. | Barry 4, Florida Southern 0

- Barry pitching earns its eighth shutout of the season.
- Maci Barnhart (W, 4-1) struck out seven, adding to her 17 from last night, for her second straight shutout of Florida Southern.
- Taylor Thomas (L, 0-1) took the circle for the first time in 2023 and suffered the defeat while surrendering three earned runs.
