Angelico no-hits Hilltoppers in 6-0 Buccaneer softball victory

Pasma blasts HR and double for four RBI

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Sophomore Haelee Angelico struck out four batters and no-hit the visiting Hilltoppers of West Liberty University as Barry University won its third straight game in two days, 6-0. It was the fourth shutout of the season for the Buccaneers (5-2) as Angelico's battery mate, Hayley Pasma, got her first collegiate appearance behind the plate and drove in four runs with a home run and double at the plate. West Liberty falls to 1-4 on the season.

All-Time Series: Buccaneers have won all three meetings in the series that began in 2007. The most recent matchup before tonight was a 2020 visit by the Hilltoppers with Cassandra Lee getting the Buc pitching win in a 7-4 final score.

SUMMARY:

  • B3: Becka Mellor led off the inning with a line shot that Riley Conkle made a diving grab for the first out. Taylor Thompson followed with a triple to right center off starter Ashlyn Tapman. Tapman was relieved by Sara Simon who issued a walk to Mac Stone-Folmar. Ball four was a wild pitch that allowed Thompson to score the first run. Cassandra Lee hit a single to left field and, after a lineout to third by Rylee Lord, both runners moved up on another wild pitch. Hayley Pasma hit a high drive to left field that cleared the fence for a three-run homer. | Barry 4, West Liberty 0
  • B5: Cassandra Lee walked to lead off the inning and was lifted for pinch-runner Cheyenn Fulton. After a pop out to short, Fulton stole second and Hayley Pasma brought her home with a double to left center. Lisa Heller pinch-ran for Pasma. Ryleigh Morgan came on to pitch and her first batter faced, Angel Villanueva, reached on an error while Heller moved to third. Villanueva stole second before Brooklyn Rushton walked to load the bases. Jordan Ream lined out to center field and earned the sacrifice fly when Heller crossed the plate. | Barry 6, West Liberty 0
