Baseball Loses To Erskine

Bucs fall to 3-1

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry lost 14-8 to the Erskine Flying Fleet at Feinbloom Field in regional baseball action at Feinbloom Field on Friday night.

  • T1: The Fleet scored in the first inning when Dalton Boyd walked, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by David Hernandez. | Erskine 1, Barry 0
  • T2: Erskine tacked on two runs on a two-run homer by Juan Jaime. | Erskine 3, Barry 0
  • B2: Barry trimmed the lead to one in the bottom of the frame. Joe Stella and Kevin Noriega singled to lead off the inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Christian Maceda and asingle by Brandon Sanchez respectively. | Erskine 3, Barry 2
  • B4: The Bucs tied the game in the fourth. Stella led off with a double and scored on a single by Maceda. | Barry 3, Erskine 3
  • T5: The wheels came off for the Bucs in the fifth as Erskine sent 10 men to the plate and scored six runs on five hits, including two doubles and two homers. Ben Maskin and Jaime hit the long balls. | Erskine 9, Barry 3

Stella delivered an RBI single and Noriega followed with another single to put runners at first and second.   • T9: Barry reliever Favyan Suarez set down 10 Erskine batters in a row, from the sixth to the ninth. But pinch hitter Dale Francis, Jr., belted a solo homer and that opened the flood gates as the Fleet scored four times in the ninth. Armando Becerra had an RBI single, Rivera drove in two. | Erskine 14, Barry 8

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Joe Alegre (2-0) worked five innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and struck out three to get the win for Erskine.
  • Peter Cassell pitched the final 2.2 to earn his first save.
  • Sebastian Garrido (0-1) took the loss for Barry, giving up six runs on five hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning.
  • Stella went 4-for-5 with three runs scored for Barry. Noriega was 3-for-5 and scored twice. Maceda drove in two runs.
  • Jamie hit a pair of two-run homers for the Fleet. They also got home runs from Ben Maskin and Francis.
