Women's Basketball Runs Win Streak To Four Games

Bucs beat Panthers 65-48

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers ran their winning streak to four game with a 65-48 victory over Florida Tech on Cesar Odio Court Wednesday night in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - Florida Tech got out to a lead in the first quarter, as Barry hit just 3-of-14 from the field. A layup by Tai Roberts at the end of the period gave the Panthers a six-point lead, matching their biggest of the period. | Panthers 15, Bucs 9
  • 2Q - The Bucs got things going in the second period, opening the frame with a 12-1 run, with all 12 points coming in the paint. Lidsey Mahoukou gave the Bucs a six-point lead at 1:13 with a pair of free throws, before Sarah Libertore hit a triple for Florida Tech at the end of the period.  | Bucs 30, Panthers 27
  • 3Q -  There were three ties and three lead changes in the third period. The Panthers quickly grabbed a 31-30 lead on a three-pointer by Lina Stranger-Johansson and a free throw from Divine Guthrie.   • 4Q - The Bucs started the fourth quarter like they did the second, with an 18-3 run. The Panthers, who have struggled all year with only one conference win, went cold in the period, hitting just 3-for-17 from the field. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Mahoukou came off the bench to lead Barry with 16 points, hitting 6-of-9 from the field.
  • Trinity Bosecker continued her hot hand with 15 points, five rebounds and a blocked shot.
  • Ashia Pool scored only two points, but lead the team with seven rebounds and six assists.
  • Libertore and Roberts each had 13 points to pace Florida Tech, while Aiste Vaitekunaite added 10 points and eight rebounds.
  • Barry out-scored the Panthers 32-20 in the paint, 24-16 off turnovers and 32-5 off the bench.
  • Barry out-rebounded the Panthers 44-32, including 14-11 off the offensive glass.
