Women's Basketball Feathers The Tars In Overtime

Bucs run their win streak to five straight

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers feathered the Rollins Tars 76-73 in overtime to run their win streak to five games in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action in Warden Arena on Saturday.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair. Rollins took a four point lead on a triple by Lucy Leen at 8:11. Barry launche a 13-5 run over the next four minutes, with Dasiah Thornton hitting a three-pointer to give Barry a four-point lead, 16-12. Barry carried the lead into the break. | Barry 24, Rollins 20
  • 2Q - Barry went up by nine, 32-23, by opening the period with an 8-3 run. They closed the frame on a 6-0 run and carried a 10-point lead into the locker room. | Barry 41, Rollins 31
  • 3Q - Rollins clawed their way back into the game and capped a 6-0 run to re-take the lead 50-49 with 1:41 remaining. Ashia Pool hit a pair of free throws with 0:17 seconds left to tie the game at 53-53.  | Barry 53, Rollins 53
  • 4Q - Ashleigh Pink's jumper gave Barry a lead to start the fourth, but the the Tars got a three-point play from Claire Erickson on the next possession and held the lead for the rest of the period until Trinity Bosecker tied it at 64-64 with 0:27 second left. Aaliyah Irizarry-Perez hit a pair of free throws for the Tars, but Camilla Flefil made a runner in the lane to send the game to overtime. | Barry 66, Rollins 66
  • 1OT - In the overtime, the Tars were up by one 72-71 after free throws by Kymora Westerfield. Neither team scored from the field in the last 3:31 of the period, but Barry was 5-of-8 from the line, while Rollins was 3-for-4. | Barry 76, Rollins 73

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Flefil led the Bucs with 15 points to match her season-high. 
  • Lidsey Mahoukou added 11 points and five rebounds.
  • Westerfield led the Tars with 16 points. Erickson chipped in 11 and Leen had 10.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs host arch-rival Lynn on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
