Women's Basketball Beats Lions In Non-Conference Tilt

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. --  The Barry women's basketball team beat the Florida Memorial Lions 71-64 on Cesar Odio Court on Saturday.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - With the Lions ahead 6-5, Barry's Chiara Fusari led a 15-4 run over the next seven minutes to give the Bucs a 10-point lead. | Barry 20, FMU 12
  • 2Q - The Bucs hit the ground running in the second period, scoring the first 10 points of the period, including five from Madison McFerrin. The teams mostly traded baskets the rest of the period, with barry taking a 12-point lead into the break. | Barry 41, FMU 29
  • 3Q - The Bucs led by 14 after a three-point play from Sanaya Shrader with 5:48 left. But the Lions used a 7-2 run over the last five minutes to cut the lead to single digits. | Barry 53, FMU 44
  • 4Q - Barry maintained a double-figure lead for most of the quarter, but the Lions cut the lead to eight points twice in the last four minutes. Rachel Murray drained three-pointers on the ensuing possessions to push the lead back to 11 each time. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Fusari, who did not play in the second half, led the Bucs with 18 points.
  • Murray came off the bench to score 14. 
  • Trinity Bosecker, with 11, and Kayla Lindsey, with 10, had double-figure rebounds, as Barry led 43-37 on the glass.
  • Bosecker had three blocks and two steals, while Lindsey had a block and four steals.
  • Chantel Barnett led the Lions with 27 points, while former Buccaneer Dasiah Thornton chipped in 12, but shot 0-for-6 from three-point range.
