Women's Basketball | 11/9/2023 3:20:00 PM

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Head coach Heather Macy inked the first two early signees of her Barry career this week, adding a pair of prep guards for the 2024-25 season.

Kornelia Ignerska, a 5-9 point guard from Rabun Gap-Nacoochee High in Georgia, joins the team after leading the Eagles to back-to-back Georgia 4A state championships. From Poznan, Poland, Ignerska has averaged 4.1 points and 3.8 assists over 58 games for coach Dale Earnhardt. She has shot 35 percent from the floor, including 33 percent from three-point range, and 76 percent from the line. She has a 1.47 assist/turnover ratio with 1.1 steals per game.

"Kornelia's winning mindset and her leadership skills will be a great addition to our program. We are very excited to have this champion joining us next fall!" Macy said.

"I chose Barry because of the excellent opportunities the school provides and the great athletic programs," Ignerska said. "After visiting campus and talking with coach Macy, I knew it would be the perfect fit."

Zoë Adams, a 6-0 shooting guard from Ravenscroft High in Raleigh, N.C., led the Ravens to a 19-13 record last year under coach Tyson Nargassans. She led the team with 17.8 points and 3.1 steals per game and was second with 7.6 rebounds per night. She shot 34 percent from the field and hit 58 three-pointers in 30 games. With Adams on the squad, the Ravens improved from 12-16 the year before. She was named the team MVP and to the All-State team. Prior to Ravenscroft, she played at Holy Spirit Prep in Atlanta, Ga., leading them to the state title and earning All-State honors.

"Zoë's ability to affect the game on both ends of the floor will be great in our system and for our team," Macy said. "We cannot wait to see how she continues to grow as a player for BarryU over the next 4 years."

"I chose Barry because it felt more like home and a family than anywhere else," Adams said.

With five seniors on the roster this season, the Bucs expect to sign several more players this cycle.
